Where do the watch aficiandos here go for after market, quality watch bands. I just picked up an Omega Railmaster 2803.52.37. I have seen a few pictures floating around of Railmasters with a mesh band, wondering where to start looking.

    Thanks!

I use www.ofrei.com for Omega parts (including the mesh bracelet). For general straps, try the Watch Prince or MyWatchmaker. The lugs on your Omega should be 20mm.

Does Brooks Brothers ever discount their shell shoes? I'm interested in these

    http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatP...=&sectionsize=

The previous coupons seem to have all excluded shell, and I assume they're not in the outlets (or am I wrong?). Do they ever put these on clearance? Or are shells ever part of the after Christmas sale?

There's a C&J store in Beverly Hills. Check it out.
Thanks, I didn't see BH on the C&J website and google was no help. Do you have any more info?

No, and they go to great pains to pull them from the website during sales, and the fine print of all coupons excludes cordo shoes. You might find them in an outlet (especially if you're talking about the clearance center in NC), but it would be dumb luck.

I think in years past people have gotten lucky and been able to apply discounts, and perhaps if you sweet talk a SA in store you'll get lucky as well. Doubtful, though.

I passed up a chance to buy this Austin Reed puppytooth jacket for $130. It's now out of stock.

Some of Austin Reed's tailored stuff is made by Chester Barrie. Is it unlikely that it would have been made by Chester Barrie? (Retail was $240)

I just saw a ton of this crap at FB, racks and racks of it. You didn't miss out. Chester Barrie is a defunct operation these days; regardless, at retail $240, it's almost surely third-world production.

Hope some of you can offer some insight into what blazer size I am.

I'm 6'1" about 190-195 with a 42" chest and a muscular build. From what I read online I'm thinking 42L - does that sound about right?

    Thanks!

Maybe a 40L? Go into a men's store and try some on!

Here's my question. I've got some suit pants that are pretty frayed at the bottom. There's plenty of extra material from the hem left though. Can I have a tailor cut out the frayed bits and then make some sort of cuffs with the extra fabric to hide the seam, or is it just a lost cause? The one I was talking to is mostly a women's tailor and doesn't speak much English, so I either I couldn't get across what I wanted or I did get it across and it's a stupid idea.

Might be try a 40 regular too. I'm 6'3" and a 42L can sometimes be a bit too long for me. Also - shorter sleeves and jacket length seem to be more in style these days.

about to buy some MTM dress shirts.

i'm a bit on the short side 5'8".

what collar for my shirts should I choose that are appropriate for my height or won't make me look shorter?

I understand regular pointed, but a small back or a large back of collar?
    longer point or shorter point?

    5'8" isn't so short. [IMG]

If a standard collar band feels like it's going too high up your neck and making your neck seem short, you might try a smaller collar. We do 1.75" rear collar band height on all of our collars, but if your tailor can make the back of the collar band 1.5" you might like that better.

As for front collar points, a narrow spread is supposed to elongate the body, but for 5'8", I think a normal english spread collar with 2.5" collar points would probably work really well. I wouldn't go any longer than 2.75" collar points.

So I just bought some charcoal grey trousers and I'm confused on whether or not I can wear navy blue with them. I have a lot of navy blue sweaters and a big wool navy peacoat. You think these can work with the trousers?

Those things will all look wonderful. Literally every color is going to look great with charcoal gray trousers! The problem is not the color, but the fabrics and fit. If they are super dressy gabardine trousers, it might look odd if you paried them with casual stuff like sweaters and peacoats. Likewise if they are double pleated or have very much break.

Is Saphir Renovateur really that much better than AE clean/conditioner?

No it is not, AE is just as good.
