The merlot McAllister was one that crossed my mind. I only wish it came in a dark brown rather than merlot. I'll take a look at the Alden wingtip bal - I just hope its one of the sale shoes! Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to plug the Brooks' Peals again, for two reasons: 1. They are nicer shoes. Not to get into the religious wars, AE and Alden make very nice shoes, and they will last you for a very long time if you take care of them, but the Peals are nicer. I believe those wingtips and perf toe caps are made by Crockett & Jones for Brooks Peal label. 2. Brooks has a big sale on through Nov. 7. 25% off if you use a Brooks card, which you could apply for right then. If there is a Brooks anywhere near you, I would encourage you to go try them on. The Alden and Peal offerings are more expensive. But, you are going to have these shoes for a very long time if you take care of them. The price difference should not be the only consideration.
