Hi all,

I'm a groomsman in a wedding and have been told to "wear a vest" to set us apart from the guests.  I'm going to wear my charcoal suit pants:

http://www.indochino.com/product/The-Essential-Charcoal-Suit

And am curious what color vest (and shirt/tie combos too) would look good.  Wedding is outdoors, daytime, and will be hot (over 25-30C / 77-86F and humid).

Thanks.

Are you wearing a jacket, or just the pants and vest? That's an unfortunate look most of the thing, for those of us that aren't waiters or Justin Timberlake. Not much you can do I guess, but it's not really in the SF approved wheelhouse.

No jacket. Agreed, but I'm not making the rules =)

What exactly does the description "charged cotton" mean?

They took a pile of cotton and jammed an electrical lead into it?

About a year ago, I asked in this thread whether to keep a pair of black chelseas. Those were considered too pointy.

This is a new pair of Brooks Brothers Peal & Co. chelsea boots. Do they look okay for wearing with conservative suits, slacks, and very dark, dressy denim (I know SF prefers brown by default)?

Funeral next week in Indianapolis for my wife's grandfather. My navy suit is threadbare and developing holes in unfortunate places, so it's retired and I'm pending something new when funds allow. That leaves me with two options:

1. Charcoal 1B peak lapel
2. mid- to light-gray 3r2 notch lapel

Which?

Black would’ve been best option. I say go for charcoal. No one will notice this but- 1 button peak lapel a bit too much for funerals’.

I agree. Neither is great, but chances are, there will not be a single person there that even notices that your charcoal suit is 1 button peak lapel. Not so for the mid/light gray suit.

35. It's almost always easier to shorten a sleeve by half an inch or so (should this even prove necessary), than it is to lengthen a sleeve.

How does this fit? It's a zara blazer, so naturally the tail is short.
