@PunkinDonuts: I like charcoal or some kind of tonal glen plaid/check provided the grey dress shirt doesn't have a clashing pattern.

    This is wrong.

The seat and the waist are different, and as somebody with actual lower body muscle, I've come across the issue before. It's definitely caused by the seat being too tight and has no relation to the waist- in fact, one common solution to fix it is to buy pants that fit your seat and thighs and then have the waist taken in. If there's enough fabric there, it would be possible to let out the seat, and that would indeed solve it, but it's a crapshoot as to whether there would be enough fabric.

I'd avoid linen in the rain, and I like more cheery attire for weddings, though I admit I wore charcoal to the last one I attended. I vote for the mid gray. Goes with more shades of brown, so safer with the shoes as well, though if they're a darker brown they'd probably be fine with the charcoal too.

Where is a good place to look for cotton or linen suits one could wear to work at a big law firm in Los Angeles? Alternatively, what are some good styles / lines of such suits?

Oil (that you put on your bike's chain, dirty oil that is) on clothing. How to remove? Directly to the cleaner or do you know the trick?

There should be no hard and fast rules when it comes to dressing up. Sure, matching socks with your trousers does make sense. Just like wearing a blue tie on a blue shirt is fine, except its overload. I don't see anything wrong with trying to match attire like socks with your shirt - even if its non-conventional. After all, if we all come to these forums to share the same views, and there are no differences in opinion, we might as well pack our bags, log off the forums, and act like sheep.

Crosspost from Recent Purchases since I didn't get a clarifying response there:

Just got these and wondered what is causing the odd creasing when I walk (see 2nd pic). The shoes are not too big or wide in my opinion, the toe box feels a bit too narrow actually.

Will this cause any major permanent creasing when I actually start to wear them regularly?

Is a light blue shirt + a black suit going to look right at a formal event?

Formal as in black tie, or formal as in wear a suit and tie? Blue suit as in navy blue, or blue suit as in bright blue? Light blue shirt as in super-light blue, or french blue?
