I thought I'd already replied to your post, sorry! But you're right... I should've thought to do this first with the companies I listed. I'd already contacted H&K before posting, but I'm still waiting for a response.

I also came across a handy site, shirtdetective, in my search for measurements which has a comparison page.

    Anyway, thanks for your help!

When wearing suspenders(braces), at what height should the triangle thing at the back be?

Pink shirt with a blue tie would go well, or as you mentioned, checkered blue shirt with a pink tie would aso go well. Keep the pocket square white.
Just be careful, with the checkered blue shirt, if the suit is also striped or checkered, go for a solid tie. If the suit is a solid, a patterned tie will do, as long as the pattern type (wide checks, stripes, geometric patterns e.g repeating elephants, fish etc) contrast with the pattern of the shirt. A small checkered tie pattern, for example, would not contrast well.

I don't think the triangle thing at the back is adjustable in any of the braces I own. I just put them on, adjust the two slidy things at the front and don't give a second thought to what's going on at the back. But I suppose the answer is "wherever's comfortable."

Talk to the guy who you would ask to do the work.

I'm in need of guidance on looking for someone who does work like that. Is there a name for that type of 'professional' that does this type of work? I live in NYC if it helps.

I would start with a cobbler. If he doesn't do that kind of work then he could tell you who does.

I go to a leather shop to have bags and belts repaired. The guy that does my repairs makes and sells small leather goods, but a lot of his business comes from repairs and alterations. He once made a shoulder strap for a bag and dyed it to match. I would assu,e there is someone like that in NYC.

Are metal buttons on a Brioni jacket proof that it is a sport coat rather than an orphaned suit jacket? It's a pretty solid charcoal gray jacket.
