Another "new job" post: Laid-off, returned and finished school, starting different career. Dark skin, dark hair, in my 40s.
New dress code is bus. casual. Definitely want to look my age--whatever that means. Due to previous expenses,
I'll have to wait some months before really adding to my wardrobe.
Here's what I have: Brown, grey and blue tweed sport coats
    Grey odd jacket
    Grey suit, charcoal suit
    Navy blazer
Black gabardine, grey flannel, dark brown herringbone trousers
I have plenty/all colors of shirts, sweaters, shoes and ties (all I ever did before, was wear the suits)
So, I was thinking that I should invest what little I have into trousers/pants since this will be a 6 days-a-week deal.
However, I am clueless about color coordination. What interesting, new colors/combinations should I look for, to stretch my wardrobe?

Get a few pairs of khakis. Stone, olive and light gray. As for color coordination, look at some of the picture threads on here (WAYWRN being the primary one).

Are linen trousers typically cut fuller through the legs than some of the slimmer cotton or wool trousers that seem to be the style here (e.g., Epaulet, BB Milano, etc.)? I really like wearing linen in the summer, but the several pairs of linen trousers I have currently seem like they need to be tapered a bit.

I'm going to be spending a week in Jamaica at the end of the month at one of those all-inclusive resorts. (Not my choice; extended family celebratory trip.) I'll probably be hanging around the pool quite a bit (again, not my favorite activity), and I'm wondering if I should get a hat to protect myself from the sun. What style of hat should I look for that would offer some protection from the sun, but wouldn't leave this linen-wearing (see above) 43-yr-old looking like a college kid or an old man.

    Hi All!

    I'm a Chicago man getting married in 3 months...yay!

I'm flying in to Manhattan this Saturday June 16th just for the day to purchase my wedding suit as well as an additional suit. I need some guidance as to efficiently visit as many shops/boutiques as possible within the day.

Here is what I'm looking for:

-2 suits with one of them being Charcoal. I hope to spend no more than $700 per suit.
    -2 well fitting dress shirts
-A great pair of dark brown leather dress shoes for about $200
    -

    Other Notes:
-I have an appointment with Suit Supply @ 11am...I'm hoping to score 2 suits for about $1000 is all possible
-I've been to Century 21 and I've seen some killer dress shoes at great prices. Good idea?
    -I'm 6ft and 175lbs so I typically wear a 38R with a waist of 31

I don't wanna bank totally on Suit Supply so if anyone as any other suit shops I can check out PLEASE let me know!

    Thanks all!

    Yes.

A hat in the style of a panama but in a more rustic straw is less old man-like imo. Brim size is also important - too big can be old manny, too small is college kiddy. Not much use to you, but in the UK I am a fan of failsworth hats. Pretty much anything on this page would do the trick, except the mariner. I've never been to Jamaica, but at those kind of places you can often by a straw hat for like $5 and just chuck it when you leave.

Have a good time, even if it's not your cup of tea.

I was asking before about olive shorts to go with the shoes in link above. I got told to choose lighter olive. But how light should they be? Can someone give me a picture of how light they should be so I don't go too dark, thanks in advance folks.

http://www.zalando.se/matix-welder-modern-shorts-groent-m3322a002-602.html those were under the category green, and do-able for my budget.
http://www.zalando.se/eleven-paris-chuck-shorts-oliv-e1322a00a-606.html those were the other pair, out of my budget tho. But should they be more like link 1 or 2?

I am looking (desperately) for skinny trousers/chinos/slacks....A friend recommended Barneys, but while their pants selection is fabulous, I can't really afford them....does anyone have any ideas of what brands to look into?

ASOS and Topman look great, but only sell online...would love to try some stuff on that you guys may recommend..Thanks!

May not be SF approved, but for a start you can get Banana Republic Tailored Slim or Gap Tailored Fit.
