I want some slim navy chinos... seems hard to find any sort of pants that have a nice fit besides jeans. The lower block always seems too billowy even when its marked as slim. Any suggestions?

Ended up picking up these Persols. I've got a skinny face, but these fit a lot better than any wayfarer's. Are these still too wide/big?

I personally like Brooks Brothers Milano fit khakis. If you want slimmer you may want to check out Bonobos.

Anything good on Amazon? I've got $100 to blow. Not limited to clothing, need ideas -- might get a new iPod if not, mine's ~6 years old. Thanks!

I need a really warm, thick, single-breasted, black wool long coat that's less than $500. Not a voluminous top coat (I won't be wearing it over a suit), but something slim. Any suggestions? I've already searched the b&s forums.

Thanks, I'd really appreciate any recommendations!

    Why? You're in texas!

$500 is a lot, you can do well on ebay for that. It's summer so you've got time, just keep an eye on designers you like and you should be able to snag something.

I'm looking for a pair of black shoes to wear casually with nice jeans and a button down. 300 is probably my max. I'm not looking for shoe porn or anything like that, I live in Manhattan and I'm just trying to look presentable to women. Suggestions? Thanks.

I typically find that brown pairs better with jeans. Perhaps you should invest in a solid pair of boots? I personally like Alden Indy boots, though they aren't to everyone's liking. Wolverine and Red Wing also make nice boots, but then you start sliding into workwear territory which may not be the aesthetic you're looking for. Any more clues as to what you want? "Shoes" is pretty vague.

I have a pair of wolverine 1000's that I wear, but I'm looking for a pair of black shoes as well. My guess is oxfords or bluchers. I was hoping there was some "standard" brand or shoe to look at so I don't have to do too much shopping.

I have both new and faded nice selvage jeans, and I usually wear a jcrewish button down. Sometimes with a grey blazer.

The black isn't going to look great with the dark denim, but will be fine with faded denim. I would say that boots are easier to wear than shoes with jeans - sidezips or sleek laceups work well. NDC, moma, Varvatos, Paul Smith can all be found in black for under $250 and are pretty nice. If you want to spend more than that you have a ton of options.
