I would recommend Vans, Common Projects achilles, Converse low.. And a difficult one to pull off - sandals.. i cannot myself.
And the non-baller sneaker thread is also a great place to roam for cheap summer footwear.

I admit, it is difficult to get really good footwear with shorts

:( I was hoping I could get away with it considering it's a university jacket. I'll probably go ahead and buy it anyway just because I want university stuff but don't like hoodies.

    Thanks for the advice.

    ^Good advice from Knisse.

Also....if you want to go with the prep boy look, pick up some Quoddy boat shoes instead of those atrocities you posted.

For the dude looking at casual summer footwear, try looking at some dirty Bucks.

Also, +1 on the stuff that Knisse said.

Thank you for the replies. That's more than one plug for Quoddy's, so I'll definitely have to look into them, and I like the idea of canvas sneakers, as well.

Are desert boots acceptable with shorts? I really don't know...

I seem unable to properly tuck-in my shirts when wearing jeans and a belt such that it's a consistent look/fit throughout the waist. Looking around, I see lots of really sloppy looking tucks, but then there are people who seemingly manage a perfect fit. This is N&F/APC denim and either BoO or Gitman, so it's not as if I'm wearing Gap seconds, but I just can't get a fit that looks nice. At 6' and a fit 165lbs, I'd expect this to be easier.

Is there some secret that I'm missing?

Could just depend on your body shape. You're a little taller than average so it may be the case that you need a longer shirt to help the tuck stay in place. You're also pretty skinny, so it may be the fact that there is too much excess fabric on the sides/back of your shirt that is making the tuck look sloppy.

I see. Well, it's tangentially related:

Nicely done. This is a "pitti" look because it's how one might see men dressed at Pitti, but much more rarely in the mainstream. It follows that, as fashion changes, so will the meaning of "pitti."
