Aw, what the hell. Can you turn old wool / cotton items into boiled wool / waxed cotton items? I.e., boil the wool, wax the cotton, yourself, after removing any buttons, etc.?

Or would this be an extremely foolhardy thing to do?

how do Common Projects compare with Alden barrie/trubalance lasts? A US 8D in alden barrie/trubalance = ____ in Common Projects?
Leather sole vs sneakers makes the conversion a little weird, but Barrie/Trubalance is generally a half size smaller than your true size. I wear a 9.5 in Barrie, 10 in regular leather soled shoes, and a 43 in CPs. My guess is that you're a 41 in CP, but someone with a true 8.5 foot would be better served answering that question.

I always get this confused, but if I two pair of jeans that are the same cut but one of them has a front rise of 9 1/2 and the other has a front rise of 9 7/8. which is gonna fit tighter? I apologize for my ignorance here.

They'll probably be little difference but it really depends on your hip and stomach proportions.

Well I have a pair of the same cut that are 9 7/8 and they fit well. I just want to know if the other pair with the 9 1/2 rise are gonna fit tighter around my crotch (which I don't want).

If you try and wear them at the same point on your waist/hips then yes crotch room will be reduced, but generally you wear lower rise leans lower down...
