It's super difficult to get your hands on, isn't it? No online sales, hard to even see what the pieces look like online. (I saw on his site that you can order things from him if you can't get them in-store, but without being able to even know what's on offer that seems like it would be a little fraught anyway.)

Good luck. His pricing is up there but the personal contact and the ethics and message behind it cannot be matched.
He doesn't allow online sales but if you email or call some of his stockists (those mentioned by @AlexanderTG and also Darklands in Berlin has just received a large shipment, and many smaller and more difficult to contact stores in Japan...) they will work with you to get the right pieces for you.

I don't think he was implying about the sales aspect. But what is the reason of restricting online sales outside of exclusivity? It's not like they are made to measure or bespoke.

there is a reason to restrict online sale of certain product, it's the designers' intention to make sure that the stores are treating the customer buying the product with the utmost respect and care. And... that the customers are treating the stores (owners, sales staff, etc) with an equal level of respect and care. It's out of courtesy to everyone involved as it should be when dealing with product of this caliber and price range. You do not want something to arrive at someone's house after they hit the "buy now" button at 3am after too much long island iced tea only to realize that they can't actually afford it and need to return it. That week it was out of the store another customer could have walked in and walked out without the item they wanted because it was at some moron's house waiting to be packed up and returned because their wife is mad about the maxed out credit card. It's not a game and there is no room for error.
for example, darklands has a terrible reputation because they are not great with online sales, but if you ever went to the store you would see that they know exactly what they're doing. They have customers walk into the store and drop tens of thousands of € in one shot, no problem. online sales are just not incredibly important at such high levels. people who have the money to spend on such things like to go into the places and try everything on, spend a day. people fly from all over the world to visit certain stores, darklands, eth0s, hostem, etc... when you can get on a plane and go shopping, there's really no need for online shopping.
And japanese stores work in another way altogether where respect is kept at astronomical levels for all stages of the shopping experience. You'll notice that many japanese stores have no online presence because they're way too busy to build websites and shoot stuff for online shoppers because they're helping clients in the stores.

You know why everyone looks the same now even though they wear multiple grands worth of clothing? Because they all look at the same shit online.
I can understand the designer's intention about the stores treating the customer buying experience with utmost respect. But it is still achievable through online sales. Most stores I've dealt with online have been really good at the customer service aspect (even with Darklands as far as my experience went) and don't have that virtual cart where you can just purchase items in the wee hours of the night by mistake. As far as the customer treating the stores and employees properly, well, if the customer is a douche, it doesn't matter if it is online or not. Hahaha!
I do agree returns will be less if items were purchased in-store as one can get the proper size and experience first hand if the product meets their expectations. But if the customer service is that exceptional, online returns won't be an issue even if it is a pain in the ass.
On meeting sales, I don't doubt they achieve it without relying on online purchases but like you said, those that do shop in-store can just afford to take a plane and drop tons of money. But not everybody can. So we go back to exclusivity.
