1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

If you're in NY, I suggest you hit up the Serra show at Gagosian. It wasn't the greatest thing I've seen, but you'll never see some much damn steel in your life. It's a preposterous and baffling production by all accounts. The show is in two locations, but the 24th street show is where it really gets heavy.

Recently got around to scanning a few sketches. Random little things from my notebook. Thinking about trying to form some sort of cohesive story.

I've long* admired some (although not really all) of Alison Van Pelt's paintings.
(It's also possible that I had a small crush on her at some point in the distant past. I met her briefly 20-ish years ago. She's based in LA and used to show at a gallery in the same complex as the gallery at which my stepmom used to show her work, and where my ex-wife worked when I met her.)

Lately I've particularly been enjoying her boxing series:

*I've known her work since the early 90's. To a certain extent, it's like that awesome house in the perfect part of town that's always just out of your price range every time you're ready to trade up. When I first discovered her work, it was very affordable although more than my cheap and still-indebted-on-student-loans ass was willing to pay. Every time I think about getting back into the market, the prices for her stuff have jumped significantly, and I end up kicking myself for previously having been such a cheap bastard. Then I make the same mistake all over again . . .

Meret Oppenheim's retrospective and Anish Kapoor's exhibition are supposed to be very good. Will see both, probably this weekend.

    Is anyone going to Basel?
This will be my first year, and input on strategy, things to avoid, parties, offshoot stuff?

Not sure if this directly belongs here but I'm proud of finishing this up. Me and my highschool Hockey buddies joined an adult Roller Hockey League about 15 years ago just to keep in shape while not playing ice. It expanded from there over the years. Team name is Junglerollers, hence screen name. We've always had crappy jerseys until this year we all pitched in money to get real jerseys made. We were going to get stitched jerseys until I found out about dye sublimation (light weight and any colors of the rainbow) cost was $90 a jersey. All artwork is original in Illustrator by a friend of mine who works for Live Nation. I helped a little lol.

That yutaka vase is awesome. I like the sculpture as well but can never tell what makes a good sculpture.
