I read some interesting threads about polyester blend suit. I got two Aamani Collezioni blazers, one from Saks and the other from YOOX. Both of them are made of 100% polyester. I am also curious why designers like AC would do that. The price for these polyester blazers are comparable to thoes made of wool or cotton of the same brand.
I wonder if the polyester is a more modern material?

It's a fashion suit. They are using experimental materials to get different drapes or silhouettes. It's not comparable to a suit for different uses, such as work.

The price is mostly that amount because you are buying a label. Truth is, just because a brand is famous, cut in a flattering way, or has previously made a nice quality garment doesn't mean every suit is.

I was recently at Harry Rosen and while speaking with the manager of the MTM program he tried to convince me that synthetics were just as good - if not better - than wool due to "new technology."

Synthetics suck. Period. Aside from the fact that the polymers themselves never biodegrade (and their average lifespan is somewhere in the realm of 1000 years) they retain scents (i.e. smell), don't breathe, and generally look like ****. They're cheaper to produce, so any business worth it's salt (i.e. who doesn't give a **** about quality and just wants to maximize profits) will use poly blends and then try and convince their customers that it's the "new thing."

Don't buy synthetics. Regardless of what label is slapped on them.

Thanks for all the replies. I think the blazer looks good. I do not feel a "breath" problem. However, it does feel different from wool blazers. I just cannot tell what is the difference.

Throw that on an open fire and notice how similar it reacts to an empty tub of margarine

I guess I will stay away form polyester clothing in the future. Thanks.
