The recent menswear collections that you should care about (the ones shown in Paris during F/W 09) shared two main characteristics, are they going to influence how you dress?

the two carac:

1) Dressier looks that evoke dandy-ism or at least the MC forum.

2) Darker collections from the main french players (Givenchy, Lanvin, YSL, Dior, Balenciaga).

You gonna jump on the bandwagon or not?

Note: for once I don't feel like writing an essay, look at the damn collections if you need an explanation!

Lanvin presented some fresh silhouettes and overall I was drawn towards the fabric blocking techniques and interesting knitwear I highlighted in another thread.
It's unlikely I'll be purchasing anything shown on the catwalk, living in SoCal is definitely an obstacle to purchasing outerwear and sweaters.
Dandy-ism isn't my aesthetic, the darker color palette will always reflect most guys wardrobes.

My occupation and location will continue to dictate my purchases, freebie's and vintage!, so "no" the collections will not dictate my future dress habits.

Guys, I don't care about what you're gonna kop in itself, just if those two directions are something you plan to follow...

In the royal blue Kunk?!

Yeah, the only thing I really took away from the FW runway was inspiration to invest in a circle scarf, and some more adventurous layering ideas, two shirts, two or three cardigans, vets etc...certainly won't be dressing more formally as I am a college student in the Eastern Shore of Maryland...as far as darker color schemes go, I'm going the opposite directions; my wardrobe needs more primaries, too many neutrals and earth tones right now.

Jumping on the second bandwagon. Was starting to go darker anyway and seeing all the amazing f/w stuff convinced me to go all the way. The transition's gonna be so bad for my wallet though. ****.

#1 I think I already sort of do regardless...dressier casual that veers into MC without the *yawn*

#2...I've been doing more monochrome dark colors this entire winter already, wearing a lot more black coats etc. Not so into doing dark colors but more solid colors, less stripes/ginghams, and the checks I've been into wearing are larger scale check patterns in muted/earthy tones rather than more common tight/smaller ones

but overall runway ideas rarely factor into what I like to wear, at least consciously...I never set out to get _____ because I saw it on a runway show

I'd say today's outfit is actually a good illustration of this.....black RL cardigan with red contrast knit on the inside of front pockets.....large check buttondown shirt in black/red/tan.....dark burgundy moleskin trouser.......dark oxblood tassle loafers (with red socks)......and a black 4 button crombie coat over it all

But you never really wear the labels being shown in Paris, right, so it would make sense it doesn't much of an influence on you.

On the other hand if you look at my own wardrobe the vast majority of the stuff either has a runway show there or a showroom.

I wish you could include some pictures or links in the OP so everyone could, if not join in the conversation, at least follow along.

I'm personally excited as it is sort of what I do anyway, only will give me license to bring in a little more flare. I don't know that it will change TOO much, but I might be a little more willing to play with different volumes, different structures in the garments, instead of the rather harsh, minimal, skinny, and dark stuff that pretty much makes up my wardrobe now. It might also mean a little more fun with accessories (bags, gloves, scarves, etc.) to play off some of the others. In short, I think it will give me a greater sense of freedom over what happened in past seasons, in that my body type/frame won't allow for the "big volume/slouchy/relaxed" or brightly colored stuff... but I can do a little more of the dressy/dark as part of this I do already. I will be looking/buying from some collections at some of my "old" favorites, but that I sort of stopped wearing several years ago. These include Jean-Paul Gaultier (who did a nice collection), Gianfranco FerrÃ

, and Salvatore Ferragamo. Even Prada and Versace did interesting collections this time that got me wondering.
