Are ties seasonal? I'm looking for a grass green tie... and I can't find it at any of the local stores. It's weird.

Yes they are.

Springy colors will be available for Spring season and Autunmy colors will be available for Autumn.

This should be a poll.

I hate ties in pastel or "summery" colors so the only seasonality I adhere to is not wearing wool or cashmere ties in summer or linen ties in the winter.

I don't really do the pastel thing either, save for the occasional pink tie, so your post describes me as well. It's more about the material than the color. Though I do have some very "fall" ties that I wear mostly in the fall. Underappreciated tie colors: burnt orange, copper and bottle green. To answer the initial question, stores do tend to rotate colors with the season. Have you considered Sam Hober?

I feel that people in San Francisco are allowed more leeway on what to wear from season to season. I think I wore corduroy and cashmere on July 4th this year because I knew I was going to to freeze my ass off in Golden Gate Park.

This really helps with the fashion retarded like me.

+1

Other than the obvious fabric issues colors tend to relate to seasons with the lighter more "cheerful' ones being Spring related and the darker more somber relating to fall. Dont less the tie police catch you smiling in the fall/winter seasons.

Your inability to find any particular color at any given time may also be related to that particular color being currently in or not in "fashion" .

I would really want to shake the hand of the person who came up with the mad idea of putting pot leaves on every conceivable piece of Hickey clothing. I guess it was a desperate measure to shake off the stodgy Hickey Freeman brand image for Hickey Style; it seems to have worked.

Fuzzy ties ( wool, cashmere etc) for fuzzy fabrics (flannel, tweed etc) i.e. winter. For smoother worsteds and mohairs (summer) smooth silk ties. Darker colors for winter, brighter for the warm months.

I think that the ones with white stripes, or silver, are perfect for summer.

I try not to have seasonal ties, too complicated
