This pair cost around US$580. Wondering if this pair is worth the amount?
Im also wondering if pre-distressed leather boots like these will be able to "age beautifuly" or not?

Sole looks thin on such a mighty boot.

Why not spend 300 or 400 less, buy some chippewa boots new and distress them yourself?

Are thin soles a indication of poor quality or something??
Can anyone tell me what to take note for quality?

No, they're just an indication of thin soles. Don't expect these to be functional at all.

Anyway, as a design, they're not bad, but there are a hell of a lot of things you can do with $600 that wouldn't be as stupid as dropping it on a pair of these.

+1 The construction doesn't look special (besides the thin sole

) and the distressing isn't anything a few hours behind a car wouldn't create. I think doing it yourself would be a great project.

With judicious shopping, Chippewas are over 500 less. They might be the best value out there for work/engineer boots, at the moment.

I think his thing is that he likes the look of the boots. I agree, the chippewas while nice and much cheaper, don't have any that look quite like these. I do think however, that these boots are a bit overpriced. I like the look of these boots a lot, but to answer your question, i really don't think they're worth the price. I'd just be patient and keep looking at different brands that look like those style and shape wise.

What a silly thing to spend $600 on.

Yes, the absurdly expensive, intentional distressing thing never made sense to me.

Margiela is the oddest; especially those laceless oxfords he came up a year or so ago with that were distressed to look like... well... old oxfords from which the owner pulled out the laces. But, if I remember, they were nearly $700 (and boots from that line were even more than that). In 99/100 situations, somebody wearing them would only elicit a "hey, where are your laces and what did you do to your nice oxfords?" from everybody else instead of a "wow, what wonderful fashion-forward shoes you are wearing!"

it depends on how much you're spending on everything else in your wardrobe. if $600 is a big purchase for you, i wouldn't recommend it. But really, I don't think they're hideous, and I think they give a unique look. If you like them, go for it.

The boots gamelan posted are actually sort of worth $600 if that's what you're going to spend on shoes.

Those boots look nice, but I'd have a hard time forking over all those clams for them. You'd hope the leather and soles are of good quality for that kind of money. If you have the cash get them, check 'em out, and return them if you don't like them.

And those Alden Indys are a completely different style, why recommend a boot that is nothing like the one the guys thinking of getting?
