are these type of shoes dated?

I found a pair on ebay thats a great price but is the style dated? I remember the boom trend of athletic inspired shoes 5 years ago. It seems like the trend now went back to the old school classic canvas sneakers. they are quite ugly... very ugly, i wouldn't even wear them if i got them for free brand new
