So I bought these Grenson's for £12 hoping they were shell. Are they?

Are these shell cordovan?! Help!

I would guess you would tell by looking at the shoes? I mean it's not exactly impossible to see them is it? Also you can see the creases and general shine which is also indicative of cordovan.
