Are these loafers too casual to wear in a court room? (US)

Ask the lawyer. No one here will be able to give advice on this matter better than him. No one here knows the circumstances or situation well enough to advise you.

That said those loafers are great for casual wear, I'm wearing them right now. Probably my favorite pair of shoes. I plan on picking up another in the near future.

If a lawyer wants a witness to appear in business casual, I am sure there is a reason. I would not stray from that advice.
