These are Peal & Co. for Brooks Brothers made in England. Were these made by EG or C&J?

the odds of a random Brooks Bros shoe on ebay being EG is about 0.2% (scientifically verified)

from the markings on the sole (and complete lack of scuffs), those look like they were a very nice thrift store deal.

As a side note, I found that neutral shoe polish strips those price markigns off in a single pass

So you're saying its possible?
Sure, if EG made shoes on the AS 87 last with an AS heel and sole treatment.

If you post a picture of the shoe's uppers, I'm sure someone will tell you which AS model it is.

I really shouldn't be doing this since I'm shooting myself in the foot but here goes:

EG for Cole Haan:

Total Cost: $184 after re-sole.

Nope, but congrats on both pairs! The second barely shows wear to the uppers.

You gotta understand, these older EGs are about Crockett benchgrade level. They manufacturing is fine, the finishing is not that great. Someone fill me in, I would guess they retailed for under $400 US. There is a EG factory tour thread somewhere on SF, it explains how they revamped their quality and finishing and styling in the 90s-ish, and this is why EG has so much cache right now.
