Are striped dress shirts history? Is this several year old shirt still OK to wear?

I've been going through my closet and getting rid of old stuff and also digging up my skinnier clothes as I've been losing weight. I have a few dress shirts from 2004-2007 that have this similar stripe pattern that fit great but I feel like this look might be a bit TOO dated. Thoughts?

Is the variant width, multicolor stripe totally gone? I rarely see this around anymore, typically just solid stripes.

(Shirt has been in a closet for two years so don't mind the wrinkles)

Keep in mind that 90% of the time that I wear a dress shirt it's worn with a suit or blazer.

All depends on the fit; If it fits you like a glove keep it otherwise donate to the scrap heap.

That is not a striped dress shirt, or a striped shirt suitable for dressier occasions, such as for wear with business, formal, or in-formal [black tie] attire.

That is a a striped sport shirt suitable for casual wear. Given your situation, I would wear with a solid blazer and solid or very small pattern odd pants, since it is a bold shirt.

While that shirt should never be worn for occasions requiring formal or conservative attire, you can continue to wear it at will for any sporty or casual occasion, as your heart desires.

Otherwise, donate to charity or the dust bin.

Do you have the juiced biceps and Dolly Partonesque pecs to pull off that shirt? If not, I suggest you bequeath it to a broseph more befitting of its technicolor glory.

I have a few of these myself and have recently been debating whether or not to get rid of them as well.

If mine are like yours, they have the double button at the neck collar and french cuffs as well.

Just as a test I actually wore a similar one out a few weeks back - untucked with a pair of jeans and black wool sportcoat. Even though no one said anything, I kept thinking to myself, "2005 called and it wants its shirt back."

So my conclusion, is get rid of it.

As I said, I have three or four that are similar and I think they will be donated on my next trip to Goodwill.
