Are RTW suit sizes upto date?

In a recent discussion with friends a matter was raised. i googled it unsuccesfully.

Apparently ready to wear suits' sizing have been based in pre-War measurements on soldiers and recent research results claim that men's bodies have change. How much is true in this?

You buy what fits, that can depend upon cut and the manufacturer. Inches never change so a leg length of 29" will hardly be different to the same measurement fifty years ago!


What is different and what is doubtless confusing you is that people generally are larger and therefore there is a greater need for the larger sizes these days.
