Are grey shoes OK for business casual that is more on the business side than the casual side?

I work in an office that is somewhat conservative, meaning button down shirts with dress pants for most and some guys choosing to wear suits or at least sport jackets. As in most offices, just about everybody wears black or brown shoes. I've seen some cool grey wingtips that I like and am thinking about pulling the trigger on them, but I'm a little worried they would stand out and make too bold of a statement. What does the SF brain trust say about grey wingtips with leather soles for office wear?

    Something like this from AE.

    Thanks for any feedback.

Not crazy about that AE...the distressing, the last, everything screams casual to me. Now this would be a fine grey choice, imho:

I realize this probably isn't what you had in mind budget-wise, so it's meant illustratively.

    Probably not a good idea.

Just to clarify, I'm not talking about those AEs specifically. Something along those lines but with no distressed look. I'm asking about a lighter grey than with RedDevil10 posted, which almost looks black.

I post this photo for posterity. This finish can only be casual though I see no worries for wearing to the office with cords and a sport coat. It appears that AE has them on deep discount so even sweeter for something fun.

True, not many chances to get a brand new pair of AE for half price.

I have the Corthay's above in Graphite Gray and wear them formally in the office. They are dark enough to look black in certain lights.

[IMG] I wear these grey shoes to work. I agree though that the AE might work better with business casual and not with suits.
