Who actually makes them? Do they run true to size?

The two makes I've stumbled across thus far are Peluso and Sutor Mantellassi. The SMs are great, the Pelusos not so much.

I hope they are good as I just picked up a pair from Gilt. At a purpoted retail price of >$900, they should be SM right, not Peluso? At least I am hoping

Borrelli's retail has nothing to do with who the maker is. Borrelli is not going to drop their price because it may cost them less to get shoes manufactured by Peluso than SM. The ones I have seem from Gilt are not Mantellassi.

Hmmm, I just remember seeing a post on here about Peluso-made Borrellis retailing for around $700 but I don't doubt you know what you're talking about.

I am tempted by Gilt's $288 (from $900 retail) "Luxury Vintage" suede wingtips. Good deal or no?

I don't doubt norcal nor iammatt but I can tell you that the captoes and the suede wingtips are not by mantellassi, not sure of the others.

None of them look like Mantellassi to me, with the possible exception of the loafers..

I think they are made by Testoni.
An employee of mine picked up a pair of the luxury vintage ones from Gilt, they are for sure not Peluso (I am actually a huge fan of Peluso, made for Peluso if I can get them for under $100.00).
The closest match I can make is Testoni, the soles are a dead ringer for them.
Also, the last shapes are unlike anything I have seen from peluso.

I've seen blue-bottomed Borrellis at Filenes with a retail of $1,800, which I assume are Mantellassi.

Ok, the split-toes I ordered have arrived. Can any of you experts identify the manufacturer?

I put more pics in the shoe damage thread. Quality seems good but I am by no means an expert in ascertaining such things.
