    That's what I said.

Wider = less triceps, more chest, closer = less chest, more triceps.

    Really?

The only part of my post you omitted, that wider grip often stresses shoulders too much.

Are bench presses overrated? Dumbell Bench Presses accomplish the same thing imo.

    Thoughts?

It affects your chest differently as barbell compared to dumbbells.
Bench affect the entire chest compared to dumbs affecting the outerpart of your chest.
Even Dumb shoulder presses feel different from barbell millitary presses.

If you have the cajones, do fear factor benches. Which is to load the bar heavy to where you can do 4 reps and bench without spotters. When you are at the sticking point, your adrenaline kicks in and you can do 1 or 2 more rep. I finish with 1 half rep.

Your chest will burn for days after doing one exercise.

This is the stupidest lifting advice I've heard in ages.

    What you should do, imo:

1 week barbell flat bench + incline dumbbell press

The next barbell incline bench + flat dumbbell press.

That way whatever differences exist balance out [IMG]

Dont knock it until you tried it.

When it gets heavy and you push for all its worth, you can really feel your chest work I tell you.
Somemore doing flat bench on smiths aint as good as on a universal bar even if I use more weights on a smith.
