Are 3 button suits for tall people?

Some people have said you have to be 6"2' for a 3 button suit to look good.

Is this a valid statement?

Schwazer, there are several different kinds of 3 button suits. As a fellow tall person the only one I approve of is the 3 roll 2 suit. This means there are 3 buttons on the front, but only the middle button is used.

Full 3 button suits make my torso look elongated so I don't care for them. Your look may differ.

Basketball players sometimes wear monstrosities with 4, 5, 6 or more buttons, usually buttoned the entire way. This is because they don't know any better.

I'm tall as well (6'4") and this is all true.

I suspect body proportions are as important as absolute height, although taller men tend to have longer legs. For me, _slight_ torso elongation is balancing.

That's why I wear a 5 button suit to beat the trend. It worked for razors....fusion anyone?

The statement is a nonsense.

Three button suits are fine for all.

Why stop at 5 when you could do 8? Or go really avant garde and do 11! I'm sure someone would think it was an awesome new look..

I've never seen a true 3-button suit that I liked. If you're tall, they elongate the torso as Harvey stated above. If you're short, you look like a fire hydrant.

3 roll 2's are cool though.

Because it takes balls to wear it? Shouldn't you do up the top three buttons on a four button?
