Does anyone know if the Veilance Insulated Field Jacket runs big or small? I'm about 6'1", 190lbs, 42 inchs pit to pit. Not sure if I need a medium or large. Thanks in advance.

You sound like a large to me. Personally, I find the Field IS Jacket to fit very odd. For me, it is a bit tight in the chest, has a constraining high armhole but balloons out at the hip.

I was hesitant about videos myself, but they have been sorely lacking. Expansive as the collection may be (hey, just 9 pieces, I think), it's still not much (says the one who's tempted by at least one more piece).

Hmm, problems. Depends on what exactly you're thinking of now. I had issues with (pants) materials, and some of the sizing can be rather odd. For example, Veilance customer service just told me that they are aware of the different sleeve lengths between Component Shirt and blazer, where - both being size M - the shirt sleeves are something like 2 inches longer than the blazers. Longer, they should be, but not so much that the cuff folds back on the sleeve...

(You'll see what I mean; I actually want to make one more review vid, this time of the blazers... And I guess I'll have to call; I'd asked about visiting a showroom ;) )

I love Arc'teryx, great company and great coats.

    I have:

    Beta A/R
    Veillance Node IS
    Veillance Isogon
    Veillance Composite

Will be adding a few pieces eventually.

The Jacket fits slightly oversized. We had it in stock last season and found most guys sizing down in it.

I'm around your size and found the medium to be too restricting in movement. I went large.

I'm considering picking up a Veilance Align jacket. Can anyone comment on the fit? I'm 5'10", 160 lbs, 39" chest and thinking of going with a size M.

I own a size M black align and it fits me very well. I'm 5'8, 165 pounds, 40 inch chest. You could probably do a S, but movement might be somewhat restricted. My dress shirts have 33 inch sleeves. Sleeves on the align are long, but going down a size probably wouldn't help much. You don't want to size up. I think the medium fits me very well overall. Temperature wise, I've wore mine down into the 40's. It's just a shell -- no insulation -- so in colder weather it works best with a sweater or some other insulating layer. The medium has enough room for a couple of layers. If you're planning to wear it only with t-shirts, you may be able to do a small, but I would expect a M to be more comfortable all-around.

There is a draw string around the waist that you can use to make the fit a bit more tight.

Note that the length is not too great, and I'm on the shorter side with a short torso. If you're expecting it to cover your butt when you sit (on, say, a rain soaked bench), it's not long enough to do so.

There's a chest pocket that's great for holding a phone, but it may not be large enough for today's phablets (i.e., a phone with a screen 5.5 inches or above).

If you have any other questions or if you're interested in a fit picture, let me know.

Thanks for the very detailed reply. Sounds like M is my best bet. How short are we talking? It does look pretty short on the Veilance website but I figured it was because they used a 6'+ model. If you don't mind, could you please measure the length of your jacket?

It's short. I prefer shorter garments, so it's a great fit for me. But I recognize that not everyone wants such a short jacket, especially when one of its primary functions is to keep you dry.

Measured from the top of the shoulder to the bottom, it's about 27 inches. There's a slight tail that gives an extra 1.5 inches in the back.

Great. That seems like it should work for me. Thanks again.

If you have a Galvanic from FW14, you can trade it in for either store credit, refund if you bought it from the Veilance site, or exchange it for the season's version. Arc'teryx is doing a recall due to a fabric problem.

Are AV not doing the Patrol IS coat this F/W? I did not see it on their website.

    They've discontinued the Patrol IS.
