I haven't received mine yet but perhaps those in the UK will get theirs before North Americans.

As Alan said, I doubt they are fakes (and would never have posted them if I suspected as much) because counterfeiters prefer brands like LV, Gucci... to Aquascutum. The seller does seem to have a large stash of these so it's likely old stock they picked up for very little and are reselling on eBay. Little do they know the power of SF to create a frenzied buying spree for pocket squares... [IMG] That said, as the poster of this item, I fear the wrath of SFers if the deal goes wrong for whatever reason. Though maybe I'll get banned and finally get some work done... [IMG]

You'd be surprised, actually. There are tons of counterfeit Acquascutum goods on Reading market (alongside Burberry and LV). Acquascutum has long been a brand which is favoured by football hooligans, so the scarves, baseball hats and polo shirts done out in their house check are at least as popular as similar items in the Burberry check. Then again, I've never seen a hoolie wearing a pocket square, so you're probably right!

Okay, I gave in. I feel like such a Chav. Thankfully no one I come into contact with will have any idea what Aquascutum is, much less recognize the check. Guess I'll have to position the "Aquascutum" on the border so it shows in my pocket! [IMG]

Maybe this will be the 'official' SF pocket square.

You can tell if it's a fake if it says in the corner "Aquascrotum".

Nice -- I'll wear it with my "Bumberry" scarf.

    LOL

Bob: Why are you walking like that?
Doug: My bumberrys are acting up.
Bob: Oh, I thought you had acquascrotum.
Doug: Nah, the doc fixed that.

I wonder how many were in the first batch. I guess 10, so at this point they've sold 32 of them. I assume the majority of those have been to SF members. Amazing.

I guess we'll start seeing a lot of 'Aquascutum check cotton pocket square' listings in the 'What Are You Wearing' thread.

I purchased an excellent printed blue/gold pocket square in Singapore shopping with myview2, but I'll take your words for it as well.

My Aquascutum handkerchief came today, very well packed, shipped quickly from the UK. I would rate it of middling quality; the edge is machine stitched. I needed to trim some wayward threads here and there. Interestingly, the Aquascutum packaging it comes in has a CA number on it (the Canadian equivalent of an RN number), which is, in fact, the number associated with Aquascutum Ltd in Canada. One would not expect that of an item intended for the UK market, I wouldn't think, but why would a Canadian item make it to a seller in the UK? Perhaps they were intended for the Canadian market, but they had overstocks, etc. that never made it or were shipped back for liquidation.

Is it legit? My feeling is probably so. The packaging looks professional, and the printing on the handkerchief looks good. I don't see how anyone could possibly make money in counterfeiting them.

The challenge will be folding it so that the machine edging does not show, which is too bad as you lose the border, and left only with the check. I may hand wash mine and iron it to get the 'new' creases out. I do think it will be quite handy over the course of the fall and winter.

Thanks to EL72 for the initial heads up.

Edit: Looks like they still have some on ebay.

Okay, here's a test run with a fold that incorporates the border, but eliminates the machine stitching:

I like it, Alan. The strong horizontal is interesting when paired with the check. Sounds like some speedy shipping, too.

Thanks for the review Alan. Glad yours arrived well. I'm still waiting for mine, and I was the first to order [IMG]

Interesting about the CA number. I like the fold you did with the border but was thinking it would look better still with only the check showing, since it's already a busy pattern. I'll have to wait and see for myself when it arrives.
