Very casual: old jeans, old tee shirt, old sneakers. Like what I'd work on my car in, minus the dirtiness....

Wear something that will allow you to whip it out with a moments notice with ease.

I am staying in today, studying. What would be appropriate? Lounge pants or office pants?

Why would this post be a joke?

Would you wear a shirt or a Polo T?
Would you wear jeans or cords or chinos?
Would you wear lace ups or loafers?

I guess you have all the answers, so how about some good advice, no one wants to hear anyone else's sarcasm! I'm sure there are a lot of us "uninitiated" souls who rely on the helpful hints of the senior members here.

BTW, it is a nice pub lunch with the missus and a movie thereafter. Thanks all.

I can't understand why anyone would think this question was a joke. Oh well . . .

One rule of thumb I *always* follow when going to the movies is to take a sweater. Here in L.A. they always have the AC cranked up full blast and the theaters are freezing cold, especially on hot summer days.

Hope you have a lovely time!

PSG, any advice on what to wear to a bris followed by a bullfight? Just to be clear, I'll be spectating at both.

Thanks.

I usually wear a dark sport jacket, chinos and a light colored dress shirt with some pattern when going downtown for lunch with friends or to the movies. However, it depends on many things. For example, if I'm on a date, I might lose the pattern on the shirt and add a pocket square or something, but if I'm going with my buddies to McDonald's, I'll dress more casual.

I'll give you my take on why I think it's a joke.

Who in their right mind would ask an online forum for advice on what to wear to lunch and a movie with his wife?

Yeah. Just ask your wife. You're not dressing the Pope. Casual stuff, and whatever you do don't outdress your wife.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
