I am looking for a way to help a guy make simple edits to a website. It is literally just adding/removing links on a page (one line of plain-html) and when I do it, I just SSH in to the server and edit the file with VIM.

I want to get him set up with a system where he can edit it with the Mac text editor in an easy to explain way.

Anyone have any suggestions for an apple FTP client that would make this process easy? Ideally you could mount the FTP server as a drive, navigate to the www folder, edit the the file, save and be done. Can this be done with the normal system menus or will he need an extra FTP program?

OS X has Terminal. Just teach him the important commands. Far easier than installing/maintaining another program...

disagree. teaching him how to SSH into a server and use vim is far more complicated than mounting a drive and using TextEdit. I have not used a mac in a while so I am just not sure what is the best way to go about doing this (bonus points if it is easy enough to explain via email)

The best mac FTP client is transmit. http://www.panic.com/ Panic also makes coda, which is an all-in-one text editor that allows you to edit files server side through SSH or FTP, similar to how BBEdit works.
