To answer a couple questions:

I have not hemmed the jeans. They are the original length (36 inseam or so).

I typically wear a 33 inch waist in most jeans (although most 33inch waist = 34 actual waist).

On the site, says size 31 = 33.5 waist... I may have to reconsider... why would anybody vanity size jeans like this?

PC vanity sizes one size and they stretch 1-2 sizes. Most people size down 3 on rescues for a slimmer fit, and 2 for a relaxed fit.
