Can someone point me towards an APC primer thread/site?

No with respect to sizing, but towards style.

As I (mis)understand it:

New standard = 501s
Rescue = New Standard w/ straighter leg.
Cure = New Standard w/extreme tapered leg.
New Cure = super tight, comparable to wearing tight womens jeans (not that there's anything wrong w. that).

they're all almost the same in the seat right?

Both cures are very low rises with the newer cure being the lower rise of the two,so pretty different from new standard but same denim except selvedge has been cut off because of the taper.
