While saying "This is a genuine whatever, I had it teleported from Mars" is not a proof of much in itself, I fail to see why it wouldn't be an interesting piece of information in the context of a discussion.

Interior decoration: even the best interior deco is, to me, just a bunch of shit you bought and put in some place you occupy and won't really make me thing that highly of anyone in isolation, hell it's not even that hard to have a nice decor: read a little bit, watch a lot of good movies, read nice artbooks etc and purchase slowly, without being too matchy or too discordant.

I know total fucking morons with nice places.

    Fuuma understands.

Bounder is still lost in the weeds.

Bounder, I am not interested in impressing you with how much I spent. In fact, I figured that my rug budget was relatively modest as far as rug prices go, so I never fathomed anybody might take me for bragging. Anyway, the key point you are missing is that pricing is useful information, even if you don't care about it or believe discussing it is vulgar. This is a public discussion forum. If we cannot candidly exchange information, what the fuck are we doing here?

Sorry was that vulgar, too? As a sidenote: in my experience, people who chastize others for vulgarity tend to be the most boorish of sorts and rarely understand what it really means to be vulgar.

Arktura Nebula coffee table arrived this morning. The "white glove" delivery service botched the delivery. The table is severely damaged--dented on all sides, with broken and bent pieces throughout. Posting as proof that this sort of crap regularly happens to us and we aren't just abnormally picky. Obviously, we rejected delivery. The management of the delivery service sounded appalled at the manner in which our delivery was handled and seems eager to fix the situation. We'll see.

the thing is, with modern art, we unsophisticates cannot tell if what you call "damage" is actually part of the design.

On the plus side--we got very good news about our rug. Will post in other thread.

You're definitely not picky, that damage would piss me off for sure, but that does not look like a particularly robust design.

Nah, that is evidence of horrendous delivery. You did the correct thing in rejecting delivery.

Which is not to say you're not a detail-obsessed freak... ;)

Wow, that is awful. Does it weigh much, or did they just put something heavy on it on the truck?

The delivery was supposed to be handled by two men, as the crate weighs over 200 pounds. The crate was supposed to be opened up in our apartment.

Instead, one guy unpacked the crate in our apartment's delivery bay, and carried the table by hand up to our apartment. He was gripping it at multiple points, bending and breaking the steal.

At this point, we are probably going to get a completely different table.
