We are moving to a new apartment and need some new furniture for our living room. Most of it has been picked out and ordered. I'm mostly curious what you guys think of the layout and the aesthetics of the overall composition. If there are individual pieces that are absolutely horrible though, feel free to chime in.

*EDIT* In case the original diagram wasn't clear enough, here's a key:

    1. Tom Dixon Felt Shade lamp
    [IMG]

    2. Arktura Nebula coffee table
    [IMG]

    3. Knoll Florence Knoll sofa
    [IMG]

    4. Tartan lambswool throw
    [IMG]

    5. Tom Dixon Mirror Ball lamps (arranged on stand)

    6. Cappellini Lotus Attesa lounge chair (actual chair is in tan leather)

    7. Artek Stool 60, Tamura limited edition

    *EDIT* Updated layout

We live in a one-bedroom Manhattan apartment. The computer is in the space between the living room and the kitchen. The kitchen is to the left and the dining area is to the south.

looks good? really hard to tell what I'm looking at. are those bookshelves behind the tv? I'm also surprised you have a dekstop, especially in such a small space.

Well, if anybody can defeat the curious beauty of domestic spontaneity, you'd be the guy.

Oh jeezus christ. You realize you're looking at a computer-drawn diagram, right? It goes beyond all credulity to suggest I've defeated "the curious beauty of domestic spontaneity" by taking advantage of technology and basic Photoshop skills to layout a small space where a matter of inches determines whether something will fit.

You are known for your taste in architecture and interior design. Having faith in the taste of those who speak of you, I was looking forward to your input. Oh well.

Anyway, if you think all those interiors you post just happened spontaneously . . .

I think the throw is ugly regardless of style. However, the rest of it isn't my style either, but maybe it is more Manhattan-like. Regardless, for that particular style, I do like the couch.

Honest to God, what are you looking for? Can you comprehend how contrived all this is? Interiors aren't difficult:

    1. Take a space.

    2. Add the necessary functional tools of living.

    3. Live in it.

    4. Let beautiful objects accumulate themselves.

Unfortunately, I can't say what's Manhattan-like or not. This is just the style we like.
