Anyone wear down vests? If so, how do you work them into your looks? What do you wear under the vest. Ever wear anything over the vest? What kind of pants, shoes, etc.

I dont, but im looking for one, preferebly green or dark khaki. LL bean has a great one with waxed cotton shell. I´d wear it with plain hoods, heavy knits or flannel shirts.. denim or canvas pants with it .. probably boots, or simple sneaks.

Ive seen EG style down-ish vests under jackets, aswell as over them, so perhaps it would work over a thin cotton jacket or under a thicker jacket (the down vest probably couldnt be that thick for this to work though) aswell. Although ive seen down vests under down jackets in Mens non-no, but that probably work best if youre crazy and japanese.

my Marmot down vest on top of Patagonia thermals, blue jeans, and Chucks is standard after ski wear for me. i might wear that around town (i'm in LA) but only if it's really cold with no rain in the forecast.

I do; I have a reversible one from Moncler (one side dark brown, the other side khaki). I wear it with jeans and a long sleeve polo or long sleeve tee. So long as they're not TOO puffy and fairly fitted, they're actually quite versatile.

Well, now I'm a little offended.

That's a cotton shell. I've also got a blue nylon shell that I wear with thermals and t-shirts, but the pictures were lost somewhere.

I had a vintage one (poly filled, not down), but it was too gross to keep. I have the Land's End version that was all over last year, which was worth it at $25.

Bobo, thanks for the rec, I'll have to check out the waxed LL Bean version in store. Although I think my mom has a waxed cotton vest

I have the Original Penguin Snow Ghost Vest which I wear with a black zip-up jacket and a wool 4-pocket coat. Also have a BC Ethic vest which I wear with a 555Soul hoodie. Both are down, both look sweet.

Tip: They tend to look better with streetwear. Down vests are bulky and look ridiculous with a dressy outfit imo. I wear them with a ballcap as well.

Ken, the second and third fits are very good but I don't like the first one.

I agree with Wayne that a down vest does not work with a tie and waistcoat.

I think that the best way to wear a down vest is to go all-out hunting / outdoors / workwear. Jeans, boots and a button-up.

Tried on the hooded EG vest yesterday, nice. I'm liking that first LL Bean one.
