Just looking for opinions.

I have some beautiful sports coats Canali vestimenta, etc from 7/8 years which have three buttons... I now I did get them shortened a little bit.

I know I can always take them to a tailor and dry cleaner to repress the lapel so it falls over the first button making it look like a two button, but just wondering anyone out there still wears three button sport jackets... I'm not talking suits just a sports jacket that im going to wear with jeans and some nice shoes.

Yes, me!
Why do you feel the need to convert them? I have about twenty suits and about thirty jackets all three button. It's not only a great look, as long as the proportions and fit are right it's the BEST look IMO!
Some people believe the hard three to be slightly less formal, which is debatable, but even if you partially accept that then it plays into your desire to wear your jackets with jeans. Go forth with pride my friend, nothing to fear here!

Hard 3? Never.
3-roll-2? Whenever possible.
I don't think your pressing solution will work-- for one thing, the top buttonhole is finished on the wrong side. For another, the jacket is probably cut as a hard 3.

Three button jacket canvassed so that the lapel "rolls" into shape on the second button, where the top first button is set nonfunctionally behind the lapel. Three buttons, rolled for two functional ones. Apparently originated with Ivy students. A mainstay of trad, now ubiquitous among Italian jackets.

While the grey 2 button sees muchmore use, I still work the browm 3 button into my rotation....And honestly...this has nothing to do with the number of buttons versus finding the grey easier to work with. It doesn't help that they're both pretty much the same SC when it comes to the 1000% Cashmir Nailhead cloth... Much like DB suits, while 3 buttons may not be "in-style", they're stil "classic" and "fashoinable"...

I strongly agree - it IS the best look - but only fasten the middle button.. I have never bought a sports jacket, blazer or suit with two-button fastening and never shall.
"Three roll two" is unknown on this side of the Atlantic.
