I'm curious if they give you a more specific delivery date after reservation.

I'm in Minneapolis; my closest Tesla Dealership is in Chicago, but apparently maintenance is supposed to be minimal. Maybe I'll wait a few model years to see how they perform, hold value, require maintenance, etc.

    Anyone considering the Model S?

Most definitely considering it. There is a Tesla dealership right across the street from my office. I have driven the Roadster a couple of times. It was very nice: the acceleration is incredible. I love sports cars and have two Porsches. But the Roadster isn't quite there for my tastes. Feels like an overweight Lotus, which it is. The sedan is a different story. Clean-sheet design.

Electric cars are definitely the wave of the future.

the 300Mile version would barely get me through the day, I would love to but the action radius has to be even better. Also, for fast charging I would need a 70amp connection in my home, this would cost me in static charges alone around 2k a year, which negates the tax advantage. All in all its just not viable yet.

the battery loses charge over time, and the replacement battery is 36k, or pre-buying one at 12k. The charge time is ridiculous. to show off and drive into town for a bit I guess it's great, but thats quite an expensive car to not be driving.

You average 300 miles a day? Do you have a ridiculous commute, or do you drive a delivery van?

My daily commute without any detours is around 150 miles, thats just to get to the office. From there there are days when I still have to drive around the country to meet up with clients, so I'd probably be hitting that 300 mile mark on a regular basis. Fwiw, im trying to work more from home, but my presence is still required for a lot of things. A solid year of driving for me is 60 to 70K km's .

I'd be more interested to hear people's thoughts on the debate of the global lithium supply.

Probably, since it denies him the possibility of enjoying a Tesla S.

For my part, I was obviously kidding... anyone that feels that their life isn't worth living because they don't own X material object is living a pretty sad life, and I don't think you fall into that category.
