Anyone own an Etro overcoat?

After a weight loss I set out to buy a smaller size overcoat and ended up picking up a really interesting navy Etro wool coat. While I initially was looking for something more classic, I found the slightly more contemporary cut to be very attractive. Navy herringbone wool and more pick stitching than I'd care to imagine.

So at 30% of retail it still was enough money that there are other options. Does anyone else own any Etro outerware that can comment on durability, wear etc...

Depends on your budget, of course, but in general, I really like Etro. The use of color is nice, the styling is interesting for those who can pull it off, and my Etro items have had no problems with quality.

I'd say 30% of retail sounds like a good bargain, though as you mentioned Etro retail is very high.

I love Etro but they don't do MTM and none of their jackets are long enough for me. Sounds like you got a great buy! Pics?

I have a very heavy tweed Etro coat which I look forward to wearing each fall/winter. Fit is perfect, it is exceptionally well made and has oodles of personality.

The Etro outlet at Woodbury Commons usually marks down to 50% off or even 75% for the end of season stragglers. But if it fits, I jump on it regardless of the discount. So if you like the fit of your coat, you have a good buy at 30%.

I have a brown herringbone overcoat from Etro, I'm very fond of it. It's slim-fitting with beautiful shoulders, and is just the right length for me. Sometimes the trademark colourful lining of Etro coats can be a bit much: Mine is a nice dark paisley, but I've seen some that I imagine would become tiresome after a while.

Thanks for the feedback. I've never owned anything Etro, although the older threads seem to be positive. As someone noted, the shoulders are cut very well.

Also bought a peacoat and another shorter type coat whilst in Italy.

One thing I noticed about this coat is the shoulders are a bit narrow. Seam to seam is about 19.5" (set in sleeves) and it's marked a 56 inside/44 on the store tag.

19.5 is about the measurement on most of my 44 sportcoats. Some of my fat coats are bigger but we won't worry about those.

It doesn't feel uncomfortable with a jacket underneath. Am I just perseverating about nothing or is there any harm wearing an overcoat that hugs the jacket shoulders that tightly.

I'd note that most makers seem to be more generous, but don't look as nice

Another note, I actually picked up this coat one size larger which I plan to return. I think the smaller size is more flattering, without being too snug in the chest.
