the UK and Italian made ones are labeled by chest size, and fit accordingly

the non-UK (made in portugal, china) are S-XL and fit a bit larger. the Small has a 38" chest, and that's the smallest they make.

FWIW, I also wear a size 4 Lacoste and a small in non-UK Fred Perry. I think the FP size Small is a bit slimmer than Lacoste 4, which I think is still a tad big on me.

They aren't really slim enough for me. Fit fine in the chest and shoulders but too big in the waist and hips, and not long enough either.

They are just a bit wider than I'd like, but that's still not nearly as big as most brands, e.g. Polo RL. I like the length, because you can wear them untucked and not look like you're wearing a dress.

I wear a 42" in Fred Perry, but I only have the mercerized (sp?) cotton ones. I love the fit of it. It fits better than my Lacoste, Polo, or Ben Sherman.
