How do they fit?

Alternatively, if someone can recommend a superior alternative polo with a good feel, I'm willing to listen. I like the fit on J. Crew, but they feel terrible to me. Polo custom fit is okay, I suppose (haven't really tried RLPL polos). What about the smaller brands like southern tide or vineyard vines, i guess they're cut for fatties?

8 threads really?

How about we start a small questions thread just for you?

Perhaps that would cure your boredom.

I personally like polo custom fit over the retro fit... the lacoste polos are kind of heavy weight too.

I was excited to find out about the retro fit Lacoste shirts, as I definitely prefer my vintage 70s/80s ones to the regular contemporary shirts. However, I ended up returning mine because it was too baggy; it almost seemed like Lacoste had incorporated the cool "retro" details but then failed to adjust the sizing.

I tried to like them and tried them on with the intention of buying one, but I was always put off each time. The fabric seems heavy and uncomfortable, and the fit is much too big. I think I tried on a size 2 which should be sizing down 2 sizes or something for me but it still fit loose in the body. I didn't like the way the collar sat either, it wouldn't split but stayed lined up as if it were buttoned. Plus, $89? Come on.

Polo custom fit is as close as you're going to get to an SF approved fit.
Lacoste is good only for the fact that chicks love the little croc (I have tested and confirmed). Plus, don't they have that awkward pocket on the retros?
Vineyard Vines and Southern Tide fit like sacks but give instant cred in certain circles. You could always size down, but the body has no shape. I really like the skipjack embroidery on the Tides, though...

If you want slim fitting polos, try the european brands, esp ones from yoox. Orlando and ABCM2 are pretty solid slim fitting. The retro fit polos aren't quite as fitted as the polo custom fit but they're still not that bad... I went TTS (6, L) and they seem fine, I wear the same size in polo custom fit as well.

This is peculiar because I was trying on some this week and the "retro fit" 5 men's polo was definitely snugger than the regular 5.

Eason - Same comment I just made. I found retro tighter. ????
