Did you enjoy it? Do you think it's worthwhile?

There is a brand that's imported into the U.S., which I've had. I believe it's called Lucid. It has a like a spicy licorice/cinnamon thing going on to my palette. It was OK.

I liked the light green one the best. It is flavoured with pine resin. This is the real deal, not that Czech stuff you sometimes see.

How does it compare to the effects of alcohol?

Yes of course I've tried absinthe. Found a nice little shop that had all kinds of spirits in large glass carboys. They dispensed 375ml for me into a nice glass bottle with some decorations on it.

I ended up drinking the whole thing. It was a good drunkenness, but not especially unique.

You can buy it in liquor stores, restaurants, wherever it's distributed. It's not exactly contraband, it's just another type of liquor.

But you have to be careful you are getting real absinthe. There is quite a brisk sales in stuff with no thujone (the worm wood component).

It is alcohol, dudes. don't be silly. I've tried a lot of it and I have at least half a dozen bottles in my liquour cabinet. It's a nice drink, but don't believe the psychotropic hype.

It actually is contraband, or most of it is, in the U.S.

I thought the thujone was proven to not actually do anything after all? If so, what's the difference (besides the natural variation of taste between different brands)?

Thujone doesn't do anything. But it got a bad name a hundred years ago based on no evidence.
