Anyone else go to Louis's sale today?

Today was the first time I made the sale. It reminded me of a friend's description of FB for wedding gowns. What a madhouse!

I was surprised that there were a lot of quality pieces for sale, but it was definitely the case that they didn't put everything out. A lot of their more classic sweaters and jackets were missing, and most of their current shoe line was not out and some shoes they did have out (e.g., Bonora) I hadn't seen there in a while.

Was worth the hassle IMO

I opted out and went to the ICA today instead. Much better way to spend a 60 deg Sat in January.

For the last few years I've gone and found the selection and the scene as you mentioned. The pieces I have bought have been mainly more non-business wear; like Dries Van Noten or accessories. When you're in the shoe section, it is every man and woman for themselves. Definitely keep your elbows out like you are digging the puck out of the boards.

I saw the Bonoras last month. Nice shoes, but when they are sitting next to the Kitons they get lost in my opinion.

IIRMC the sale goes on for 10 days or so and on the last day or two the discount extends to 60% off as opposed to 50%. As always no phone orders or returns.

I was there and was, as usual, underwhelmed. While there were some very nicely cut suits and ties, a great deal of what was on sale was uninspired casualwear. There were some nice sportshirts by lots of makers, from Truzzi to Dries van Noten, and some jeans by Rag & Bone, Yen, and Seal Kay, and outerwear by Transit, Marni, Neil Barrett, essentially the high end store stalwarts. However, the selection was not at all exciting. I find the much smaller selection at Alan Bilzerian and Stel's (the latter carries much more affordable brands as well) much more interesting. Debi Greenberg ought to delegate some. Her abilities as a buyer are far inferior to Alan's, and with the arrival of Barneys (and their team of top flight buyers,) Louis is no longer the only game in town.

I haven't seen Bonoras in there in a while, and the ones I saw yesterday were like ones I bought off of Yoox -- i.e., with that kind of interrupted sole (don't know what to call it).

Where is Stehl's and do they only carry streetwear kinds of things?

Also, what does Bilzerian carry? Thanks in advance

So buying a $575 Brioni dress shirt for 1/2 off is a good deal how ?
BTW their Bonora shoes look worse than last year's selection, yet cost more.
Prior to this sale I remember seeing black

Kiton bals priced a hair over $1600. Wonder if any of the high-end shoe models got marked-down.
