Anyone disappointed with the C&J Weymouth?

Here are the tan ones (by coincidence, wearing them today).
I use Saphir Light Brown polish and cream with no ill effects.

That's a good idea, I think (conditioning them first so they don't dry out too much), but I definitely wouldn't use Lexol for this. There have been a number of reports of Lexol darkening leather. I haven't found any darkening, however, from other conditioners I've used, like the Allen-Edmonds and Meltonian Leather Lotions and Creme Alpina (probably the best and available--at least it was at one time--from Franco's). I've never "sun-lightened" a pair of shoes, but others have, and I haven't heard reports of any damage from this, but it does seem wise to moisturize them first. Good luck with this project!

I like the Weymouth.

I do agree it took some polishing -many times over a number of months, before the color really got interesting.

My only complaint has been that the toe does not take the color from the polish that well. Polishing with brown kiwi I see a noticeable darkening across the vamp and instep - not so much on the toe. I have had to work to perfect the polishing routine on this shoe.

Below is a comparison with a recent purchase - a C&J for Peals I picked up at BB. With the tan Weymouth going for 725.00 at Ben Silver, I thought this was a bargain at about 350.00 (25% off sale)

The medallion is different, but for the most part it is the Weymouth in tan. I go back and forth as to whether the Peals is on the 337 last...if not, it is pretty darn close. Very nice leather that I expect will age nicely with wear and polishing.

When I first read this forum I heard about Ben Silver. When I saw the Weymouth I was hooked. That was my first pair of High End shoes. First the tan then the brown then many other wholecuts and I love them. You guys are an addiction and It's great.

The Weymouth convinced me I dislike wholecuts. They look really odd to me on the feet. The black leather seems inferior, too, than the C&J Handgrade browns.

I have a pair in dark brown, and they've convinced me that wholecuts, while they look incredible unworn and in catalogs, just aren't for me. Once they get creased up a little they just look odd, at least on my foot.
