I can't find a solution for my chronic sore throat problem. It gets worse during winter or colder weather, but I always have this. I get like a lump in my throat, post nasal build up at back of my tongue, rasp voice like I swallowed a chunk of peppers.. Funny thing is that my nose does not get stuffy and it does not hurt when I swallow.

I tried salt/baking soda gargle. I tried the netty pot nasal irrigation. I went to an ENT doctor who said that I don't have tonsil problems to warrant removal, but that back of the throat just looked irritated. He gave me an allergy spray Astelin which in a way did help, but it started to give me side effects so I stopped using it.
Any recommendations on what to do next? I don't know if I should seek a different ENT specialist cause they charge an arm and leg just top peak into your mouth, but get the same answer again.

I thought removing your tonsils will take care of that problem. It worked for my brother and he had chronic sore throat

Sleep in a room with a humidifier or crack open a window.

If it happens after eating spicy, acidic foods it could be acid reflux. Prevacid can help. Do you find yourself clearing your throat alot, especially after meals?

My throat's been sore for a couple of weeks and my doc prescribed antibiotics. I finished the meds but my throat's still sore. I'll have to check out that LPR theory.

Get a humidifier and a dehumidifier and let them fight it out.

He peaked into my throat with some hose that had a light for couple of minutes. I looked at youtube vids of laryngoscopy and it looked more involved than what he did.

No, I don't have any issues with eating spicy foods or urge to clear my throat after I eat. My throat just feels very dry a lot of times, and I have the urge to clear the throat when I'd eat sunflower seeds or something similar.

No, never tried the humidifier thing. I don't know why I get mucous build up even in the summer then.

For the laryngoscopy they spray some numbing solution in your nose and then stick that camera hose up your nose and then direct it down into your vocal cord area to check.

did you check the link?

I checked out the link. The doc definitely did not do this laryngoscopy procedure. I will have to seek a different ENT then. He didn't even havetools in his office, just that flashlight type tool. Is laryngoscopy also used to examine tonsils or only the larynx?

Do yo breff stank? If so, it might be that you have "throat stones" (tonsililiths).
