Anybody not particularly like black shoes

I started out with the thought that brown just wasnt dressy enough....so most of mine are black.....PLENTY of black. But now im really enjoying brown...and theres so many shoes I remember passing on because they were brown...and im kicking myself for it.

I don't much like black shoes either.

Black captoe... and then various shades of brown, but I don't much care for tans or light browns. Much prefer dark and reddish hues.

I understand him. It doesn't sit well with me either. It's one of the few accepted cases of close-but-not-quite matching in common rotation.

I recently gave away my AE collection which gave me the opportunity to plan out my rotation from scratch. The first shoe I purchased was an EG Chelsea in black and have since only purchased or ordered brown, burgundy, blue and green. Of the following 25 shoes planned out, only 1 other will be black -- JL 2009.

With that said, I am never required to be in conservative business dress.

Blue suit with black shoes can have a bit of an airforce uniform vibe... I think it looks good, though on other days I pair a blue suit with brown shoes of various shades.

Also have to disagree with a previous poster about cheap black shoes looking good - cheap black shoes (and even corrected grain on well-known brands) usually looks indistinguishable from plastic. I think good black really showcases quality (or the lack of it) because it is apparently so hard to give depth and patina to black leather.

Cheap black shoes look a million times better than cheap brown.

i would not want all my shoes in black, nor would in other tones too - but i love the simple elegance of a spit shined black shoe, just as must and the casual refinment of of a well patinaed brown shoe
