Here's something. I got an email from a Ralph Lauren associate today (seriously).

Here are the high notes:

"Pre-sale begins the 23rd or 27th. We are still waiting to hear on a firm date."

"Just a quick note to remind you that our Private Sale begins in November. All fall product will be marked down substantially."

I've bought too much RL stuff in the past year.

Umm...October 23 or 27th? Isn't that today? Do you have any idea of the EG line-up at the stores?

Last time I was at RL (not one of the large stores), the current shoe offerings were a little depressing. All made in Italy, and the Purple Label shoes, while nice, just weren't like they used to be.

I totally agree! There use to be 2-3 Edward Greens at the SF Polo Store, but nada now. The shoe offerings in Palo Alto are total crap too.

On a side note. for the past 2-3 years, the Shoe Dept. at Saks in SF was getting crappier and crappier. All of a sudden the brought in a ton of good stuff (Edward Green, JM Weston and others).
