I was in the RL store last week and saw a pair of Chelsea Boots called the "Astor". They retail for $650 but of course the 40%+15% sale applies. I have read a lot about the Polo Reddings boot that has been reviewed here, however, I couldn't find any info on this particular pair. Does anyone know who makes them? What are your opinions on these as opposed to RM Williams Craftsman, EG, Lobb, etc.???

The Astors look nice, they are made in Italy - not sure by whom. The finish on the brown is decent.

I have been almost irreversibly (and irrationally) biased against unknown Italian factories by this forum, and so would be hesitant to say that Astors represent a great deal at $300+.

All else being equal, I'd rather have a Sutor or Gravati shoe/boot than the Astor. Or a full-price RM Williams.

There is no way that Astors are in the same league as Lobb or EG.
