for me, the shell necklace is an essential part of the "american jackass" uniform along with the necessary striped dress shirt  [IMG] i used to wear a sterling silver Mjolnir (Thor's hammer) i got from Sweden daily for about 5 years...the last regular piece of neckwear i wore a couple years ago was a pewter Totenkopf bolo tie.  nowadays i dont like anything around my neck

I'd say neckwear is not something you actively look for unless you want to end up buying a piece you'll regret. If you really like a piece you come upon then maybe you should get it but don't wake up thinking "Hey I'm gonna get myself some neck wear today..". In other words if you need to ask about it then it's not for you for now...

Sounds awesome. It didn't look anything like this, did it?

I subscribe to Esquire's suggestion about jewelry: one watch, one ring, and that's it (and I don't even have the latter). Besides, I generally find that anything around my neck tends to feel too heavy, no matter how light it is.

Personally, I don't wear any neckwear, but if you are going Norse/Celtic, why don't you just get a torc made. Note - only wear if you are super cool, and don't care what other's think. And yes, tje shell necklace is an integral part of the AJ uniform. It says, "hey, I went to a Third World country on vacation, and all I got was this."

I like to unbutton the top four buttons on my shirt and wear a large gold coin on a chain nestled in my chest hair [IMG] JK - I also have to agree with one watch, one ring advice. Although I did pick up a cool wood bead and shell ankle bracelet on my honeymoon in Hawaii several years ago - always fun with flip-flops or going barefoot in the summer.
