Any reason to use leather condition on shell cordovan shoes?

I just got my first pair of shell cordovan shoes. I have some Allen Edmonds conditioner/cleaner - is there any reason to apply this to the shoes if I don't specifically need to clean it before polishing?

Should I brush the shoes, or buff with a cloth, after every wearing?

Cordovan comes well-oiled. No need for conditioner. You may need to use an old toothbrush to remove some of the white residue that often comes out of new cordovan.

I've never used conditioner on my shells, only wax. They seem to be doing fine without it, and some are a decade or so old.
