I am currently an Undergrad but I am thinking of going in to a doctorate PT program. Any PTs or similar professionals on this website to give me some general information comparing and contrasting it to medicine? Thanks.

That would be appreciated. Thanks. One question though, did he ever comment on if he enjoys the field or not?

he does enjoy it. i've gone to physiatrists (real docs) and PTs and found both to be very valuable.

Not a PT, but I am seeing one. Seems like a pretty good job. They charge $50/hr...it's not very capital intensive (just need a few pieces of exercise equipment) and I don't really see you getting sued for malpractice. You could easily build your own practice through word of mouth and referrals from doctors.

my friend is one of the only hospital affiliated chiros and has built a nice practice of him, a massage therapist, 2 PTs and one of the better known sports doctors at rusk/NYU. i go there far more often than my regular family doctor.

Good information. Thanks. I was thinking of going in to the neuroscience aspect of it... or the orthopedic therapy. Work for a hospital or big sports team. That would be bliss.

I employ a passel of them. Lifestyle and working conditions, PT wins hugely over docs. Money wise, docs win hugely over PTs. I rarely see a stressed out PT. I know hundreds of stressed out docs (and their families).

Piobaire, if you don't mind me asking, when you said you employ them, does that mean you are a doctor?

It's interesting that no physical therapists are present. Maybe somebody will appear now. If there aren't any, or fewer than expected, it probably illustrates a personality-occupation-style relationship that bears discussing separately.

Limited sample size but at my hospital there is one male physical therapist (that I know of) and at my sister's the majority are also female. If this holds true across the field, that could explain the paucity on this website.
