Any opinions on Geox Wingtips?

Has anyone owned or seen a pair of these in person? I did a search for Geox and didn't find any threads containing specifics about the quality of their shoes.

Artisan Fan had this to say:
"I like Tod's a lot and have three pairs of loafers but honestly I think Geox makes a better shoe for much less money."

^They're aren't inherently bad or anything, but you can do better. For dress shoes, a leather sole is usually preferable to a rubber one. Allen Edmonds would be a solid choice.

if you have a ton of snow in your area the rubber soles might keep you from falling on your ass a ton, but a leather sole is probably what you want.

AEs are clunky garbage. There's a whole lot better shoes. I like thinner soles like Paul Smith's or Billy Reid's wingtips.

I'm not a fan of the visible logo on the shoe, either. What price point are you looking for?

Sure, but he seems to want something cheap. As I said, AE's are a solid choice. You wouldn't recommend Lobbs or C&J's to someone who was looking for New Balances, would you?

I am not a fan of the visible logo either. I read an old thread about a sale on Cole Haan's Liverpool Welt Wing tip, but it looks like I missed the boat on the mahogany ones. I am willing to wait for my next student loan (which comes in a week or two) and spend up to $400, maybe even $500. Of course, I'd rather spend $190.

What mahogany/dark brown wing tips would you guys suggest in this price range?

I have a pair of black Johnston and Murphy wingtips that I'm pretty happy with.

+1 on no logos on dress shoes

Edit - my J&Ms were ~180 with shoe trees....I think around 150 for just the shoes. They're leather soled. I think goodyear welt but I'm not sure.

Florsheim is another good brand.

If this is your first pair of nice dress shoes, be prepared to size down. I'm usually a 9.5, and got an 8.5 in my J&Ms, might even be able to fit in an 8.

The Allen Edmonds Strands are pretty sleek, definitely moreso than other AE wingtips. They're $279, but you could probably get a nice used pair on buy&sell here and/on just wait for a sale. FWIW, I think they look best in the darker brown (they're available in black and 2 shades of brown.

What do you think about the McClains? Chili-grain or merlot-burnished?

Anybody else have other suggestions?
